In mid-December, authorization review time frames related to provider administered medications (part B drugs) changed. Due to the reduced turnaround-time, it is imperative for providers to submit chart notes with the authorization request. The new time frames are applicable to the Medicare Advantage Plans and are as follows:
- Standard part B medication must be determined in 72 hours, no extension available.
- Expedited part B medication must be determined in 24 hours, no extension available.
